Automated computer workstation of P-18-МR surveillance radar consists of the following devices:

- monitor;

- functional key panels (located below the monitor);

- keyboard with functional keys;

- hand-operated manipulator;

- loudspeaker control panel.

Functional key panels are located below the monitor and used for surveillance radar management. Functional keys are listed below.

- POWER key: surveillance radar power turning on / off;

- STANDBY (ON / OFF) key: standby mode activation / deactivation;

- ROT key: antenna rotation activation / deactivation;

- RAD key: radar transmission activation / deactivation;

- DG1 / DG2 key: diesel-generator unit turning on / off;

- WORK key: operational mode activation / deactivation.

Frequency shift support in P-18-МR surveillance radar system provided high-level protection against jamming attacks (active interference signals). Operational frequency hopping is applied in bandwidth from 145 to 175 MHz. There are predefined 224 carrier frequency letters and as additional jamming protection measure the frequency hopping procedure is carried out pseudo randomly.

To discriminate a target against noise moving target indication (MTI) mode is applied. Moving target indication (MTI) mode is activated in four zones. Surveillance radar operator can switch MTI mode between the following zones: zone 1 – 5–12 km; zone 2 – 12–45 km; zone 3 – 45–120 km; zone 4 – 120–600 km.

Fault detection system includes a self-checking process that detects faults and shows data about malfunctioning device or its element on the automated computer workstation monitor. Information about faults is accessible on the screen «HELP».

In case P-18-МР surveillance radar is positioned to send data for several military units, there is portable computer workstation that can be used outside of the shelter.

Portable computer workstation has the following functions:

   • full control over P-18-MR radar;

   • display of secondary information from P-18-МR surveillance radar;

   • display of secondary information transmitted by senior control unit over radio orover IP;

   • loudspeaker communication with the operator of automated computer workstation;

   • complete P-18-MR radar diagnostics.
